SELECTION / SCOPE / HANDOVER
Before choosing the equipment
Describe the concrete or rock, nearby structures and access. Ask the contractor to assess noise, vibration, debris and the alternative methods appropriate to the material.
What belongs in the quote
Separate breaking from loading, hauling and disposal in the price. Agree what happens if the material or neighbouring conditions differ from the assumptions.
Think about the surrounding work
Describe what must be cut, broken, drilled or separated and the surrounding structures, utilities and occupied areas. Ask how the attachment matches the carrier and what protection, access and environmental controls belong in the work plan. Define the finished result and how removed material will be handled.
Three questions for your contractor
- What material information supports the method?
- How are surrounding structures considered?
- Does the price include removal of broken material?
Bring a useful project brief
Bring site photographs, access measurements, available drawings and a description of the finished result. Identify what is known about the ground and existing services, and distinguish confirmed information from assumptions. Ask for written inclusions, exclusions, change procedures and handover records before comparing totals.
