SELECTION / SCOPE / HANDOVER
Before choosing the equipment
Ask the demolition contractor to distinguish structural work from processing material already on the ground. Describe reinforcement, size and the required output or separation process.
What belongs in the quote
Include loading, metal separation and destination requirements in the scope. Agree how unsuitable or contaminated material is identified and handled.
Think about the surrounding work
Describe what must be cut, broken, drilled or separated and the surrounding structures, utilities and occupied areas. Ask how the attachment matches the carrier and what protection, access and environmental controls belong in the work plan. Define the finished result and how removed material will be handled.
Three questions for your contractor
- Is the task demolition or ground processing?
- What output is needed for the next step?
- Who handles separated materials?
Bring a useful project brief
Bring site photographs, access measurements, available drawings and a description of the finished result. Identify what is known about the ground and existing services, and distinguish confirmed information from assumptions. Ask for written inclusions, exclusions, change procedures and handover records before comparing totals.
